Summary

This ad arose as a happy accident from a series of photographic explorations intended to manifest two-dimensional graphic elements in three-dimensional physical outcomes as unified graphic compositions.

We began by laser-cutting typography, experimenting with a variety of media, color, and size. The resulting three-dimensional artwork was photographed and filmed in a multiplicity of contexts, employed as figure, filter, and skin.

The ad is depicted in published form on the top left portion of this page. It was run as Armchair’s ad in the 2009 Modern Atlanta Guidebook. For this project, I lent art direction and photography. Kevin Byrd, Armchair’s Art Director, contributed the layout of the ad. The photograph of the Guidebook is by Kevin Byrd. Additional photographs of the project are by Stefán Kjartansson.
